Raffles Institute: Preparing grads to the world

Last June 27, 2015, Raffles Design Institute, Manila has commenced their graduation exercise at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati. Where the ceremony is not your typical average graduation activity.

Why did I say so?

For starters, The graduates did not come in wearing the traditional toga and cap. Or the entrance with that stately parade.. Contrary to all that is tradition. Their graduation  is more businesslike , practical and has Posh, ( yeah I know I don’t use this word often and don’t expect I know fashion. My fashion  is sneakers and jeans. So don’t be surprised that I am a caveman on these stuff.)

Moving on, The graduates wear business attire, very professional.. and they look mature. Not something you would expect for graduates that is barely out of their teens or that still below 20.  Don’t get me wrong , not because they’re young means they are not ready to take on working roles..

The best part is the system which the Institute implements is that provides creative and analytical approaches that encourage individual judgment and self-awareness. Resulting to outcomes and employability of their students through. Creativity and innovation Enterprise , Entrepreneurship Relevance, Employability Professional Excellence through professional staff development , Socially Responsible professional practice. By curtailing the curriculum with what is essentially related to the course. There is more emphasis on the quality of education being provided to the students.

Going back to the event, actually it’s more of the party than a graduation. Of course, Since this is a graduation, the graduates also went up the stage to be recognized. But before the handing out of certificates, there is a fashion show ; all the works and design are made by the graduates themselves in the fashion industry..  So just take a look on some of the creations.

For somebody like me or an average joe. This is a surprise that they are all made by young professionals barely out of their 20’s.

Impressive. I am impressed on what they have done and looking forward to what they can further do in years to follow.
