Graduation with Style: The Raffle's Way

A graduation ceremony done inside a hotel, with the posh and glamour that one would not expect on traditional school graduation. I can say that the people who made this event possible has style.. all the attendees are fashionably chic. From the set up to the dress.

I will not be surprised as this is hosted by Raffles Design Institute of Manila. For most of us who are oblivious to the run way or the modeling world we would rack our brains and it would not help. The rest would pull out their smart phones and look for it in google. ( some of you after reading this articles would already be doing that or have just checked out their page)..

So I'll not torment you nor tease. Simply put. Raffles Institute is an Institution that is young compared to other reputable schools here in the country. However, The curriculum is very thorough and impressive that in matter of  almost two and a half decades they have already branched out and have a network of 30 colleges and 13 countries. The secret to their success? The School offers practical quality education and provides  a well-rounded hands-on experience relevant to he industry for each student
As I was interviewing one of the graduates, Geo Ramirez; I can sense his drive and determination. This lad of 19 yrs of age is already a marketing and sales executive of  a cookware dealership company that caters to different hotels and restaurant  with in the metro. Sounds impressive isn't it? I, originally thought that Geo is also on the fashion course or any related course, but he quickly corrected me of that notion. Geo is a graduate of a business course and he is the only one of his batch for this year. When asked why he chose Raffles among the others, His answer is simple yet very straight to the point. The Institute offers the core subjects needed for the course required. Basically , they stick to the essentials and do not included non related pre requisitions. It is logical and is a sound idea and yes it does have some novelty in it..

And the  Show.. This fashion show presents the works of their graduates and their master pieces. I can see on the looks of their parents how proud they are of their children's  achievement. Of course the school has provided the place and the setup. but one can see some tell tale sign that most of the works from set up to the show has student contribution. In my point of view, This is more of a way of the student's showing their appreciation to their parents for the support and behind each graduates success.

So to this year's Graduates Good luck on you other endeavors and Soar High.!!!

Raffles Design Institute Manila : Non conventional graduation ceremony

Today as of June 27, 2015 at Dusit Hotel Makati,I have witnessed a non conventional graduation ceremony hosted by Raffles Design Institute. When I say non conventional, it is not in a bad sense;

this graduation I attended is combination of a passing of age ceremony and show. This is not a traditional graduation ceremony where students are in all formal attire; Half hearted listen to speeches  chat with each other or just pretend to be awake while waiting to go up the stage, shake hands then pose for a picture.. ( we all are guilty of this..) How many ceremonies did we really get to stay awake through out?? ( If you are as old as i am or probably in the working age you would be smiling or just shaking your head.)

So what consist of this graduation? This is a combination of a graduation ceremony( minus the long winded speech) and a fashion show that presents the graduates individual creation in fashion.

This is a new concept of ceremony which I appreciate a lot.  The graduation show cases the talent of their student through their creation and masterpieces. Really, The graduates are talented and as a viewer you feel that you are watching a fashion show created and directed by professionals. From the models all the way to the support group to make the event a success.

Here are some of the pictures during the event. I am a fashionably challenge person so i really can't comment so its for you viewers to appreciate.

To say that these are just fresh grads with fire to take on the world with talent and discipline is something noteworthy we may see their names on runways or being trade marks in the future.

For me I'll keep my eyes open for these young adults ready to take on the present..

Raffles Institute: Preparing grads to the world

Last June 27, 2015, Raffles Design Institute, Manila has commenced their graduation exercise at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati. Where the ceremony is not your typical average graduation activity.

Why did I say so?

For starters, The graduates did not come in wearing the traditional toga and cap. Or the entrance with that stately parade.. Contrary to all that is tradition. Their graduation  is more businesslike , practical and has Posh, ( yeah I know I don’t use this word often and don’t expect I know fashion. My fashion  is sneakers and jeans. So don’t be surprised that I am a caveman on these stuff.)

Moving on, The graduates wear business attire, very professional.. and they look mature. Not something you would expect for graduates that is barely out of their teens or that still below 20.  Don’t get me wrong , not because they’re young means they are not ready to take on working roles..

The best part is the system which the Institute implements is that provides creative and analytical approaches that encourage individual judgment and self-awareness. Resulting to outcomes and employability of their students through. Creativity and innovation Enterprise , Entrepreneurship Relevance, Employability Professional Excellence through professional staff development , Socially Responsible professional practice. By curtailing the curriculum with what is essentially related to the course. There is more emphasis on the quality of education being provided to the students.

Going back to the event, actually it’s more of the party than a graduation. Of course, Since this is a graduation, the graduates also went up the stage to be recognized. But before the handing out of certificates, there is a fashion show ; all the works and design are made by the graduates themselves in the fashion industry..  So just take a look on some of the creations.

For somebody like me or an average joe. This is a surprise that they are all made by young professionals barely out of their 20’s.

Impressive. I am impressed on what they have done and looking forward to what they can further do in years to follow.

APAG MARANGLE roughly translated means, bounty from the earth enjoyed fresh.  And that is the reason why, this food place was born.  Established in 2008, at Bacolor, Pampanga, APAG MARANGLE slowly but surely moved forward in the food business by being true to their roots.  Cooking in the most traditional way possible, With flavors and cooking techniques gained and handed down from one generation  to the next and a taste that is appealing to the public, APAG MARANGLE is recognized as a true Kapampangan restaurant.

Kapampangan food is known for its rich flavor and variations of dishes. the resto; keeping true to that practice maintains the same consistency through out.

The soup dishes brings  nostalgia for people who loves the provincial feel and certain taste to urban dwellers that has not stepped a foot outside the metro (as if that is possible). Such taste do have its great moments and would make the experience quite something to look forward to. The soup texture is balanced in between that would not kill the appetite but would give a satisfactory sense of enjoyment and in anticipation for the next course.  Such is the ideal soup. It would not whet your appetite not give such overwhelming taste that would kill the flavor of the next dish. Instead the soup would enhance the oncoming course and complement the essence. It would also give you new ideas on how to make new dishes as well.

With their newest branch located at Park Square, Makati City, you are to expect the same flavors that they were known for.  The design of the place is keeping true to what the original place is.  It is bringing the province in the city in terms of taste, feel and ambiance.  From their seats to the table, the potted plant to the raised platform – imitating a fishing/dining area, to the music and ceiling design, it is truly relaxing and calls you to eat to your heart content.   A true testament of authentic Kapampangan warmth  – the food, the people, the place and t
